RING ONLY, by definition — one ring passes through two holes. Usually placed in the lobe or helix. Both holes must heal, so treat it as two piercings not one.

The anatomy

An orbital is not a location so much as a technique: two separate holes joined by a single ring that passes through both. It is most often done in the lobe or along the helix.

The thing to understand is that it is two piercings, not one. Both holes have to heal, the ring moves whenever either one is knocked, and a problem in one becomes a problem in both. Placement has to be exact from the start, because the ring diameter is fixed by the distance between the holes and cannot be adjusted afterwards.

Aftercare

Twice the healing surface and a ring that transmits every knock between the two. Expect it to be more sensitive than a single piercing in the same spot.

Clean both holes properly, including the one that feels fine.
